Beyond the itineraries and the checklists lies the true reason for leaving the familiar behind. "The Grand Finale" represents the heart of the journey—the people who expanded our understanding and the singular moments that redefined our sense of wonder. As the tally for this inaugural year of full-time travel comes to a close, these winners represent the soul of our 2025 experience.

The Awards

Award: Experience That Changed How We See a Place

**Luxembourg Exploration**: A city that completely changed our view of how nature and urban life can blend.

**Brussels History Tour**: A reality that was very different from our expectations, making us truly like the city.

**Mauritian Family (Strasbourg)**: Warm hospitality that introduced us to a new culture and future travel goal.

**Nuremberg Walking Tour**: Learning the "secrets" of the city's reconstruction through the holes in the bricks.

Winner: Nuremberg Walking Tour. Learning the "secrets" of the reconstruction—like the tiny holes in the bricks—changed our entire perspective on how the city was painstakingly brought back to life. It was a moving lesson in resilience and history.

Award: Most “This Is Why We Travel” Moment

**Swiss Hillside Toast**: Sharing wine in a field with friends while looking at the Alps.

**Colmar Local Meeting**: Using Google Translate to chat with locals at our favorite neighborhood spot.

**First Orca Sighting**: A rare moment that even our veteran guide hadn't seen in 18 years.

**Northern Lights Group**: Seeing the aurora shared with a group of like-minded people.

Winner: Seeing the northern lights and doing it with a group of like-minded people. Standing on the deck with others who were just as excited and awestruck as we were made the experience even more powerful. It reminded us that shared moments are often the most meaningful.

Award: Most Memorable person we met

**Mark (Domaine Seilly)**: For six generations of passion and his unforgettable "funny lines".

**Andreas (Limassol)**: For engaging us randomly to share deep cultural insights like "name day".

**Paphos Meze Lady**: For the shared shots of wine and local hospitality after our meal.

**Colmar Bench Couple**: Connecting with strangers through the simple power of a translation app.

**Nuremberg Group Member**: Making a new friend (Jamie) while exploring the city together

**The Owner of La Locanda**: For the hugs and making strangers feel like long-lost friends.

Winner: The Owner of La Locanda. For the hugs, air kisses, and making strangers feel like long-lost friends. He didn't just serve us food; he welcomed us with an open heart that defined the hospitality of Nuremberg.

Award: The "Expert Guide"Award

Metz & Brussels Guides: For providing deep historical insights into their respective cities.

Tom Kerss, our Astronomer and Aurora Chaser: For changing how we see and understand the night sky throughout our voyage.

Ava Steigler, our amazing Astronomy group guide (Norway): For giving us folklore, history lessons, and a lasting impression of the Norwegian coast.

Winner: Ava on Norway. In each town, she would take our astronomy group on a little "walk," giving us history lessons and sharing folklore that left a lasting impression on all of us. She didn't just show us the sights; she told us the stories of the land.

Award: Memory of the Year

**Aurora Deck Night**: Standing with Astronomer Tom as he pointed out comets and the dancing lights.

**Grossmünster Candle**: A quiet, powerful moment of reflection, where we lit a candle in Zurich to ground us for the year ahead.

**Swiss Mountain Summit**: Watching Tom take it all in while playing with Lana at the top.

Winner: our time spent at the top of the mountain in Switzerland. Watching Tom sit and take it all in while playing with Lana on the hike—and her teaching me words in Swiss-German—captured the entire "Slow Travel" dream in a single, quiet afternoon.

Award: Moment of the Year

**Marienplatz Scale**: The awe of seeing Munich's massive historic square for the first time.

**First Orca Sight (Norway)**: The quick, powerful realization that orcas were right there alongside us.

**First Aurora Sight**: That initial, breathtaking moment when the sky first began to glow.

Winner: Seeing the Northern lights for the first time. That first flash of green on the horizon was the culmination of years of dreaming. It was a quick, visceral moment that instantly became one of the most important snapshots of our year.

Award: Signature Experience Award

**Burgundy Bike Ride**: Pedaling through the world’s most iconic vineyards under the golden French sun.

**Obernai France Day Trip**: A perfect day in the hills learning from Mark at Domaine Seilly.

**Norway Cruise Day Walks**: Deep-diving into the history and folklore of the coast.

**Cyprus Tours**: Exploring the Troodos mountains and Akamas Gorge in Paphos.

**Ayia Napa Tour**: A memorable guided exploration of the Cypriot coastline.

**Strasbourg Christmas Market**: Being in the "Capital of Christmas" for the holiday season.

‍

Winner: Strasbourg Christmas market. Experiencing the "Capital of Christmas" for Christmas with the people, food, markets, music and lights; will be imprinted on our memories. Surrounded by the glowing cathedral and centuries of tradition, it was the perfect "signature" to our inaugural year of nomadic life.

And so, the 2025 Touchpoint Tally comes to a close. From the first bite of a French pastry to the final glow of the Northern Lights, this year has been a testament to the beauty of taking it slow. We hope these awards inspire you to look for the "signature experiences" in your own journeys—whether they are at a five-star table or in the middle of a muddy forest.
